Suzanne Perromat's family has lived in the Haut Benauge area since the 16th century. Domaine de Terrefort was enlarged by her grand father, Adrien Cazeaux at the end of the 19th century. The Domaine de Terrefort is mentioned on an 18th century map, the Belleyme map, as one of the rare vineyards in the area. Recent excavations have brought to light a large Roman villa on the site.
Terrefort is planted on a gravelly-clay soil over a chalky sub-soil which gives this wine his flavour. Domaine de Terrefort includes the ancient vineyards of Fermis and Grande Versanne on a 40 hectares plot.
